THE REDCROSS SOCIETY

In 1859 a war took place in Selpharino in Italy. The victims of the war lay scattered on the ground fatally wounded or maimed. Some were dying in pain while some crying out in pain. Henry Doonant, a wealthy trader who happened to witness this tragical situation with his own eyes initiated in forming an organization to help the helpless in such a situation. That was the birth of The Red Cross Society. The main center of this society is in Geneva in Switzerland and there is a branch office almost in all the countries of the world now.

Their Emblem, The Red Cross, is after the Mark of the National Flag of Switzerland. Today in the time of any adversity, in any country; may be a war, a flood, a famine or a disease, The Red Cross Society is at its service giving First-aid or nursing the victims both day and night. Their invaluable service is especially predominant during a war. As a world recognized organization it has the ability to helpless in a war in many other ways too.
